Project: Department of housing roof repair and replacement
Date:
June 2021 – current
Location:
Greater Sydney region
Client brief:
The NSW government are repairing and replacing the roofs of their housing commission homes throughout Sydney, in an attempt to make the work safer for their contractors. Ventia on behalf of the department of housing have chosen to have the property isolated from the energy network whilst the work is completed. This removes the risk of electric shock causing injuries or fatalities when accidentally contacting the overhead service lines.
Work:
We have been subcontracting to Kiteleys Roofing to keep their contractors safe from electric shock for the past 2 years. We operate on fast changing timelines to safely disconnect the incoming service lines from the network pole before the contractors can begin the roof repair/renewal.
Disconnection of the overhead service lines occur first job in the morning and are reconnected to the network last job in the afternoon to ensure no property is left without power over night.
Outcome:
We have undertaken this work for 2 years with no safety breaches or near misses to the sub-contractors / electricians / residents. We continue to work with Kiteleys Roofing and Ventia to provide safe workplaces to its contractors.
